Q3D Quality3Ds
Reverse Engineering Taranaki

No CAD file? We can help recreate suitable parts.

Quality3Ds can measure, model, prototype, and refine practical parts where the original file is missing or the original supplier is no longer available.

Good reverse engineering jobs

The best jobs are parts where fit and function matter, but the original part is unavailable, too slow, too expensive, or needs improvement.

Broken plastic parts

Clips, covers, knobs, bezels, housings, spacers, and brackets.

Obsolete components

Low-risk parts where a printed replacement is suitable.

Adapters and mounts

Parts that connect two systems that were not designed to work together.

Improved copies

Recreate the function while adding strength, clearance, or serviceability.

What we need from you

  • The physical part, or clear photos from multiple angles
  • Critical dimensions and what the part fits into
  • Where it failed, if the original broke
  • Quantity, deadline, and operating environment

Important limits

We will flag parts that are safety-critical, highly loaded, heat exposed, pressure related, or better suited to machining or certified manufacturing.

If a printed part is not the right answer, we will tell you early.

Measured, modelled, then tested

Reverse engineering usually combines careful measurement, CAD rebuild, practical print settings, and real-world test fitting.

3D printed bracket being measured with digital calipers.
Dimension check with calipers Printed features checked against target dimensions before the part is accepted.
Dishwasher wheel components on a cutting mat for reverse engineering.
Broken part reference Existing parts provide the geometry and fit clues for a printable replacement.
Functional black printed parts packaged with fasteners.
From one sample to a small run Once the replacement works, it can be repeated in a controlled batch.
