Simple orders stay simple. Technical projects get the review they need.

Most household, hobby, decorative, and other low-risk print jobs use our normal quote and order confirmation. Extra project terms are reserved for business, industrial, reverse-engineering, and higher-consequence work.

Normal quote process

Everyday and home-use orders

Decorative prints, hobby items, organisers, display pieces, and simple non-critical household parts do not normally require a lengthy signed project agreement. Consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded continue to apply.

Additional review when needed

Business, industrial, and technical projects

We may require a project schedule, prototype approval, testing, or a signed agreement for functional business parts, reverse engineering, repeat production, regulated applications, or work where failure could cause injury, significant damage, or business interruption.

Default status for prototypes and recreated parts Unless the quote or project agreement expressly states otherwise, parts are supplied for prototype, fit-check, visual, or evaluation use only. They are not approved for safety-critical use or for an application where failure could cause injury, major property damage, or production loss.

Information you must provide

Before quoting a functional part, we need the intended use and foreseeable failure consequences.

  • Loads, movement, impacts, vibration, pressure, and expected service life
  • Operating temperature, UV, moisture, chemicals, and electrical exposure
  • Critical dimensions, tolerances, mating parts, installation method, and inspection access
  • Applicable standards, OEM requirements, regulatory requirements, and required certifications
  • Whether failure could injure anyone, damage equipment, contaminate product, or stop production

Uses not covered by a standard quote

We do not treat the following as ordinary print jobs:

  • Medical, life-support, protective equipment, or food-contact safety applications
  • Lifting, rigging, pressure-containing, structural, or fall-protection parts
  • Vehicle steering, braking, restraints, suspension, or other road-safety systems
  • Machine guards, interlocks, high-speed rotating parts, or safety controls
  • Electrical protection, fire-safety, explosive-atmosphere, or hazardous-process parts
  • Any use where failure could reasonably cause death, serious injury, or major loss

Advice is not certification

Material suggestions, CAD work, prototype testing, and print settings are project inputs. They are not professional engineering certification, regulatory approval, or a guarantee of performance outside the approved scope. Independent engineering, testing, inspection, or certified manufacturing may be required.

Quality3Ds may decline a project or recommend another manufacturing method when additive manufacturing is not appropriate.

How functional and industrial projects are controlled

Higher-risk work needs more than an email description. These steps create a clear record of what was requested, what was approved, and who is responsible for validation and use.

Define the use

The customer records the application, environment, loads, interfaces, hazards, and consequences of failure.

Agree the scope

The quote or project agreement identifies deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, material, revision, and approved purpose.

Prototype and validate

Fit, function, loading, installation, and failure behaviour are checked by the customer and any required qualified adviser.

Approve the final version

Production starts only from the recorded revision after written acceptance of the agreed tests and intended use.

Customer responsibilities

  • Provide complete and accurate use, hazard, load, and environment information
  • Confirm the right to copy, modify, or reverse engineer supplied designs and parts
  • Arrange competent installation, guarding, testing, inspection, and maintenance
  • Do not change, resell, or use a part outside the approved purpose without review
  • Stop use and contact Quality3Ds if damage, deformation, cracking, heat damage, or unexpected behaviour appears

Business and industrial orders

Quality3Ds may require a signed project agreement, staged prototype approval, independent engineering input, test evidence, or proof of suitable insurance before accepting industrial or higher-risk work.
