600 × 600 mm table: timber & screws
For one table with a nominal 750 mm finished height. All timber, plywood and screws below are self-sourced and excluded from the NZ$200 printed kit.
Wood cut list
| Part | Finished size | Quantity |
|---|---|---|
| Apron rail | 90 × 45 × 482 mm | 4 |
| Leg | 90 × 45 × 687 mm | 4 |
| Plywood top | 600 × 600 × 18 mm | 1 |
Buy 2 straight 2.4 m lengths of 90 × 45 mm timber. Suggested cuts per length: 687 + 687 + 482 + 482; 687 + 687 + 482 + 482 mm. Allow saw kerf and end trimming; the tightest cutting pattern leaves about 50 mm before kerf. Measure the actual timber before cutting.
A 1200 × 600 mm panel yields one exact 600 × 600 mm top; the remainder is shorter because of saw kerf. For two exact square tops, buy a larger sheet.
Screw BOM — 48 screws per table
| Use | Suggested screw | Quantity | Fitting note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tabletop fixing screws | 8g × 20 mm wood screw | 8 | Two per corner; fit a head inside the 12 mm counterbore. 20 mm length allows about 14 mm penetration into 18 mm plywood through the 6 mm top plate. |
| Apron retaining screws | 8g × 30 mm countersunk wood screw | 16 | Four per corner, through the underside retaining holes. |
| Leg retaining screws | 8g × 25 mm countersunk wood screw | 8 | Two per corner, through the inner leg-retaining holes. |
| Sleeve retaining screws | 8g × 25 mm countersunk wood screw | 16 | Four per sleeve. Use 25 mm to avoid opposing screw tips overlapping in the 45 mm timber section. |
These screw sizes are a proposed assembly BOM derived from the CAD holes, not a tested fastener specification. Check screw-head fit and actual remaining wall thickness before purchase. Pilot-drill timber for your screw manufacturer and wood; snug the screws without crushing the printed parts. Use a corrosion-resistant finish suitable for the chosen timber treatment. No washers or metal levelling hardware are required by the current printed-foot design.
Preparation and height options
Drill each leg end centrally: Ø22 mm × 35 mm deep for the levelling stud. The current boot has a 50 mm leg socket. At the nominal mid-foot setting, leg cut length = desired tabletop height − 63 mm, with an 18 mm top. Thus 687 mm legs give a 750 mm table. This changes tabletop height, not a certified load rating. Check a complete dry assembly before cutting a custom height.
